Virtual VCC

Rooted in Prayer releases June 30 at the Ancient Faith Store

Because so many of our Vacation Church Camps will be so different this year, we’ve put together a virtual camp so that your family or parish can enjoy it from home!

The camp’s theme is Prayer, and the kit is recommended for use with the beautiful book, A Child’s Guide to Prayer from Ancient Faith Publishing (sold separately).

Camp is presented in five days, each of which includes the following:

Opening Prayer & Daily Lesson*
Discussion Time (with Parents or Priest)
Arts and Crafts
Cooking Class & Snack Time
Printables
Saint of the Day*
Music Class with CeCe Yentzen*
The Day’s Game
Closing Prayer*

*offered as video download

The Virtual Vacation Church Camp is designed to be flexible:

Families can enjoy camp on their own, at their own pace

or

Gather multiple families or the whole parish to engage simultaneously via Zoom or other video conferencing software.

The Virtual Vacation Church Camp, and the accompanying book, A Children’s Guide to Prayer, will be available for purchase at the Ancient Faith Store.

Our kids look forward to Vacation Church Camp every summer! I’m so excited that our parish will be able to provide an online camp this year!

For Parishes Offering the Camp via Zoom (or similar platform)

Attention spans on Zoom are limited, so the basic structure is in two parts:

1 – A first meeting on Zoom with information-based, thought-provoking content (prayer, video lesson, live chat) followed by a substantial break away from the computer to give the kids time to run around, enjoy hands-on activities, eat, and spend time with their parents.

2 – Later, the group assembles again on Zoom for lighter, more physically active content (a shorter more story-like video lesson and an active video music class with dancing and movement, and then a live game).

You might decide to do these two portions in the morning and afternoon (setting up two Zoom meetings at 9am and 1pm, perhaps), or you could use a more traditional 9-12 VCC structure.

Please note that through an authorized parish account at Ancient Faith Store, you can purchase copies of A Child’s Guide to Prayer at a wholesale discount. Contact your parish priest or bookstore manager for more information.
