Don’t miss our Holy Week and Pascha at Home page, where we’re posting ideas and resources for your Little Church’s celebrations. The next Virtual Sunday School class will be released on Great & Holy Wednesday, April 15, covering Holy Thursday through Great and Holy Pascha. On Thomas Sunday, April 26, we’ll return to our regular Sunday format.

LAZARUS SATURDAY AND PALM SUNDAY

Great Lent ended on Friday, and Holy Week will begin on Sunday evening, so right now we stand on the threshold to Holy Week.

This is the video version of our audio podcast, which you’ll find on Ancient Faith Radio.

Activities for the whole family:

Lazarus Saturday

Draw Jesus’ great miracle, using this dot-to-dot to get you started!

Reinforce what you’ve learned about Lazarus with a word search puzzle.

Palm Sunday

Find your way to Jerusalem with this Palm Sunday maze.

Reinforce your knowledge about Palm Sunday by solving a word scramble.

Write a thoughtful response on Lazarus Saturday and Palm Sunday from this prompt.

Find more activities and ideas for these two days, and for the coming days, on our Holy Week and Pascha page.

More Videos:

For Younger Kids: Kh. Gigi Shadid’s Eternal Joy is a fun Orthodox children’s song about learning the Scriptures. This is a good one to learn as we embark on Holy Week, as we will be reading a lot of Scriptures in the coming days!

For Older Kids, Teens and Parents: This episode of Be the Bee looks at our prayers for the dead, and what the Raising of Lazarus and the Resurrection really means for all of us, and for our loved ones.  You’ll find the video along with discussion questions on its Be The Bee resource page.

Today’s Hymn: The Troparion of Palm Sunday, sung by Kh. Gigi Shadid.

As always, you’ll find the audio-only version of this week’s Tending the Garden of Our Hearts weekly podcast on Ancient Faith Radio. Each episode begins with a lesson or meditation, and concludes with questions and discussion ideas to help your family grow in the faith together. You may want to look through the archives for more episodes during this quiet time at home.
